About the Role
The Event Coordinator supports Fulbrighters with Disabilities (FWD) by organizing events that foster global connection, community engagement, and resource sharing. This is a flexible, volunteer leadership role — but flexibility doesn’t mean complacency. Some months may be quiet; others will require focus and dedication to deliver impactful events.
You won’t be “clocking in” every week, but when an event is on the horizon, you’re expected to lead, organize, and collaborate with the Board to ensure everything runs smoothly. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in project-based work cycles and can shift gears when needed.
Requirements & Responsibilities
Event Planning & Scheduling: Coordinate a variety of virtual (and occasional in-person) events throughout the year — including panel discussions, workshops, networking sessions, and special initiatives. You do not need to be in-person for planning. This is fully remote!
Project-Based Leadership: Step in during active planning phases to handle logistics, speaker coordination, tech setup, and attendee communications. During off-peak times, contribute to brainstorming and long-term event strategy.
Accessibility as Standard: Proactively ensure all events meet accessibility expectations, ADA compliance when possible — including captioning, interpreters, and platform usability.
Board Collaboration: Work closely with FWD Board members to align events with chapter goals. Be available for occasional planning meetings, especially in the lead-up to major events.
Promotional Coordination:Liaise with the Communications team to ensure timely event promotion across platforms.
Post-Event Wrap-Up: Gather feedback, document lessons learned, and suggest improvements for future events.
Time Commitment
Flexible, Project-Based: On average, 0-3 hours per week, depending on the event cycle. Some weeks may require no involvement; during active event periods, expect to commit more hours to meet deadlines and ensure successful delivery.
Attendance at key Board meetings or check-ins leading up to events is expected.
This is not a full-time or part-time role technically — it's a leadership responsibility that requires reliability when it counts.
